Swan
This was challenging to get right as I tried a very shallow depth of field with a wide aperture - f/1.6. Took a number of shots to be sure, but majority were in focus.

Swan at sunset
A swan captured in the golden light of the falling sun.
With this shot I wanted to contrast a sharply focused swan with the gently blurred sunset catching on the ripples. I needed to avoid the swan becoming a silhouette against the back lighting so I used a flash.
Kit was 1D3, 135mm f/2 wide open @ 1/5000s, ISO400. In the past flashguns would not sync at such fast a shutter speed, the 580EXII pulses the flash to allow higher syncing.
A little lightening of the swan was done in Lightroom.
Thanks for looking - any questions, please ask!
Phil
