Ask a stranger to pose....

So I ask a couple to pose for me by the Petronas Towers and then everyone wants a shot!

Very challenging lighting - sometimes needing to back the flash off, other times not!

Parents in Cyprus

Just back from a lovely week in Cyprus. Here's a quick portrait of my parents with the fantastic Fuji 56mm f/1.2 on an X-Pro 1. Was shot wide open to blur the background.

A summer portrait

I was really pleased with this portrait of a young lady which I took at a wedding this weekend.

I used the Canon 135L wide open to get strong separation from the background. I used a 580EXII in High Speed Sync mode to fill in the shadows and give the eyes a sparkle. The sun provided a rim-light.

Headshot and Helen Gallery

Hiya - gallery of 11 shots from the Helen shoot is here: http://www.philhackettphotography.com/Helen

Here is a headshot at close range wide open on the 85mm f/1.2, hence the narrow depth of field.

Not sure why you didn't get an email yesterday, but I did post a shot, so please check out the blog!

Gemma Aguilar out-take

A couple of years ago I did a shoot for the singer-songwriter, Gemma Aguilar.

I liked this shot, but it was never used for promotion material. I've been going through some of my past photos in preparation for my LRPS, fell over this one and decided to upload it for tonight's blog post!

Bob at Bacton

A portrait of my father-in-law. Used the Canon 70-200mm MKII at 200mm. I stopped down to f/5.6 as I wanted a reasonable depth of field at a shortish distance.

Processed in Silver Efex - full spectrum, T-Max film setting, slight vignette, and an orange filter!

Soft Focus Roseanne

Seems bizarre that I have all these excellent lenses that produce sharp images and then I go and add a soft-focus effect!

Oh well - I liked how it looked! This was done in Color Efex - I added Pro-contrast and Soft focus.
