First day in Kuala Lumpur - Petronas Towers

Hi all

Apologies I've not posted much for a while - I plan to post more over the coming weeks.

Today I arrived in KL and I am staying near the Petronas Towers.

The first shot is the typical one - taken from the hotel 'SkyBar'. With the second I went for a quirkier angle - I was more interested in the geometry than the colour so I converted to black and white in Silver Efex.

I lit Chess with a @Lencarta Octo Softbox as a key light (above camera left) with a strip box underneath for fill.

Francesca Vintage Pin-up Style

This one is a first for me - I was trying to go for a Vintage Pin-up style look.

Lighting (all Lencarta) was Octo-box (key light) and strip box (fill) camera left, two lights on the background and a strip box to model right for a little key light.

@Lencarta A quick edit from this evening's shoot with Francesca. I lit Chess with a large Lencarta  Folding Octa Softbox just out of shot to the left.

I really like the eye contact and soft lighting in this shot. The Canon 24-70mm f/2.8L II continues to impress with its sharpness, colour and rendering.

Candid at the ГУМ Fountain

ГУМ (or GUM) is a famous mall in Moscow that has entrances on Red Square.

I liked the lady's thoughtful look and grabbed the shot. Being close by with a wide angle lens helps to get a more natural look in candids - it doesn't spook the subjects.

St. Basil's Cathedral on Red Square, Moscow - Inside and Out

2 HDR's and a low light shot today!

I was very impressed with St Basil's, but the light outside was flat and boring so I added some contrast and punch by taking 3 bracketed exposures and using Photomatix.

The last shot I used the 50mm f/1.2 wide open - partly because of the low light levels inside and partly because I wanted a very thin dof.

View from the Ritz & Bunker 42

I'm in Moscow on business for a few days. I was privileged to stay at the Ritz Carlton for the first night - the roof-top bar afforded great views across Red Square
