A summer portrait

I was really pleased with this portrait of a young lady which I took at a wedding this weekend.

I used the Canon 135L wide open to get strong separation from the background. I used a 580EXII in High Speed Sync mode to fill in the shadows and give the eyes a sparkle. The sun provided a rim-light.

This was a 3-shot HDR taken on the Fuji X-Pro1 with the 18-55 mounted. I used a warm-up filter and a neutral grad on the sky. I cropped to panoramic format as the foreground was a bit dull!

Enallagma cyathigerum - not!

The damselfy in your picture isn't Enallagma cyathigerum.

It's a male Calopteryx splendens.....Banded demoiselle

Trotters Independent Training

I spent three hours today photographing the public with Del Boy's car, Steve McQueen and a couple of other vehicles!

Fighting against strong sunlight is always tricky - I dialled in -1 on most of the shots on ambient exposure and +2/3 on the flash gun.
